About Us
Our History
In the northwest direction of the Beau Vallon Secondary School surrounded by lush vegetation and beautiful green hills is the Beau Vallon Primary School. The land was acquired officially by Government on 7th August 1979 as Parcel Number V9817 for the community project. The project consisted of housing estates as well as Beau Vallon Primary School.
Construction of the school started in 1995. The China States Construction Engineering Co-operation was the contractor which had the noble task to undertake work on our present school.
The total cost of construction was Rs8’432’031.89 the amount of which 80% was a loan from the African Development Bank (ADB). The government of Seychelles billed 20% of the cost. The school was completed in September 1997 but it was only inaugurated on the 17th of June 1998 by the then-new Minister for Education, Mr Danny Faure.
The school today harbours more than 400 students from 11 different sub-districts in Beau Vallon as well as some exemption cases from outside our boundary.
Our School Structure
As of January 2020, the Ministry of Education has adopted this new school structure for medium / large schools.

School Committees
Everyone has a voice in our school. Through the establishment of different school committees, staff, students, and parents are welcome to make fruitful contributions to the life of our school and the attainment of the school’s goals. The school tries as much as possible to have representatives from different cycles on each committee. Here is the main role of each committee.
School Council
A body consists of the Council chair, the Head Teacher, the PTA chair, two staff representatives, and a community member. Its primary function is to oversee the process and governance of our school.
Parents-Teachers Association (PTA)
It is an association consisting of parents, representatives, and teachers that work to implement various projects for the development and growth of every learner.
School Management Team
This team holds a formal position of leadership within the school’s organisational structure. Quality teaching and learning are the priority of the team. They are also responsible for the daily management of activities in the school in line with all educational policies.
School Improvement Team
This committee develops the School’s Strategic Plan and sees to its successful fulfilment. This plan should identify the school’s efforts to improve student performance and reach the strategic goals of the school.
Special Needs
To monitor the experience and achievement of students with special educational needs and disabilities. The committee plans and executes activities that address the student’s special needs.
Website
Set up and maintain an evolving school website that promotes the Beau Vallon Primary school’s accomplishments and makes access to a volume of information right on a dashboard.
School Nutrition Action Group
SNAG is an alliance of pupils, leaders and teachers, parents, caterers, and health professionals who work together to help build a whole-school approach to nutrition.
Safety
This committee has the responsibility for ensuring that satisfactory policies are in place and is being implemented throughout the school.
Subject
This subject-related committee recommends and endorses proposals to maintain the currency and relevancy of the curriculum, as well as to foster innovative ideas and practices of teaching and learning in relevant subjects.
House System
All staff and pupils except for the Head Teacher belong to a “House’’. The House System was introduced in the school with a focus on behaviour and performance. An exercise book is kept at the class level whereby points are awarded or deducted based on the pupil’s behaviour and work output in class.
During the year, pupils and staff battle to score as many points as they can in academic lessons, sporting activities or other extracurricular activities that are organised.
